Renting a Jet Ski in New Hampshire

Everything you need to know before your week on the water — how lake delivery works, what it costs, the certificate you'll need, the season, which lakes you can ride, and how to pick the right Sea-Doo.

New Hampshire's lakes are some of the best riding water in New England — and you don't need to own a jet ski, a trailer, or a truck to enjoy them. This guide walks through exactly how a week-long Sea-Doo rental works with Live Free Jet Ski, from booking to the moment we meet you back at the launch ramp.

The short version

Live Free Jet Ski rents two like-new Sea-Doos by the week, delivered fully-fueled to your New Hampshire lake — we meet you at the public launch ramp — and met again seven days later for pickup. Rates are $1,250/week (Wake 155) and $1,950/week (GTR 230), with delivery, pickup, and life jackets included. The season runs May 30–October 15, and every operator 16 or older needs a New Hampshire Safe Boater Education Certificate.

How jet ski rental works in New Hampshire

Most people picture renting a jet ski as showing up at a marina, signing a clipboard, and watching a clock tick by the hour. Live Free Jet Ski works differently. We're a delivery-based weekly rental: you book your dates online, and we meet you at the public launch ramp on whichever lake you're riding.

The rental week runs Saturday to Saturday. We bring the fully-fueled craft to your lake's launch ramp by Saturday 5:00 PM — we meet you there, not at your cabin or dock — and meet you back at the ramp the following Saturday by 10:00 AM. In between, the machine is yours for seven full days. There's no hourly meter, no trailering, and no boat-ramp logistics for you to manage.

  1. Choose & book. Pick your craft and week online. A 15% non-refundable reservation deposit locks your dates instantly.
  2. We meet you. We meet you at your lake's public launch ramp by Saturday 5:00 PM, fully fueled and ready to ride.
  3. Ride all week. Seven full days on the lake, life jackets included, with no hourly clock running.
  4. We pick up. We meet you back at the launch ramp the following Saturday by 10:00 AM. Your security deposit is returned within 5 business days.

What it costs to rent a jet ski in NH

Pricing is a flat weekly rate with delivery and pickup always included — no hourly metering and no surprise add-ons. There are two craft to choose from:

Sea-Doo Wake 155
$1,250 / week
Sea-Doo GTR 230
$1,950 / week
Reservation deposit
15% · non-refundable
Security deposit
$500 · refundable

The 15% reservation deposit is paid when you book and locks in your week. The balance plus a $500 refundable security deposit is collected at delivery; the security deposit is returned within five business days after the craft comes back in good shape, less any charges for damage, late return, or fuel.

A few things worth knowing so there are no surprises: late returns are billed at $60/hour after 10:00 AM Saturday, fuel returned short is charged at market rate plus a $5/gallon surcharge, and cancellation terms depend on timing — more than 5 days out, you lose the deposit but the balance is refunded; inside 5 days, the full rental fee is forfeited. Fuel during your week is the renter's responsibility, but everything else — delivery, pickup, life jackets, and the safety walkthrough — is included.

Do you need a license to rent a jet ski in New Hampshire?

New Hampshire doesn't issue a standalone "jet ski license," but it does have a mandatory boating education law, and personal watercraft are squarely covered by it. Every operator 16 or older must hold a New Hampshire Safe Boater Education Certificate to legally operate a jet ski (or any motorboat over 25 horsepower) on state waters.

The good news for renters and visitors: the certificate is earned through a short, approved online course — most people finish in an afternoon — and you don't have to be a New Hampshire resident. You'll need to present your certificate at delivery, so plan to complete it before your rental week.

When is jet ski season in New Hampshire?

Live Free Jet Ski's rental season runs May 30 through October 15. That window captures New Hampshire's warm, long-daylight summer months, when lake water temperatures are comfortable and the days are made for being out on a Sea-Doo. Peak weeks — July and early August, plus holiday weekends — book up first, so reserving early in the season is the surest way to get the craft and the dates you want.

Where you can ride: lakes we serve

We deliver to lakes and ponds across central and southern New Hampshire — from the Massachusetts state line north to Squam Lake. Squam is the northern edge of our service area; we don't deliver north of it. Our regularly served waters include:

Two legal notes worth knowing when you pick a lake: New Hampshire law does not permit jet skis on public waters smaller than 75 acres, and saltwater or tidal bodies such as Great Bay are off-limits for PWC rentals. Some lakes also carry their own local horsepower or PWC rules. We confirm your specific water body when you reserve, so just tell us where you're staying and we'll verify it works. Choosing your Sea-Doo: Wake 155 vs. GTR 230

Both craft are like-new, meticulously maintained, seat up to three riders, and come with USCG-approved life jackets. The difference is character:

Sea-Doo Wake 155 — $1,250/week

A 155-horsepower Rotax engine in a stable, family-friendly platform. The Wake 155 is the more approachable ride — great for families, newer riders, and relaxed cruising. It's also tow-sport ready with advance written approval, so if tubing or wakeboarding is on your list, this is the craft to ask about.

Sea-Doo GTR 230 — $1,950/week

A 230-horsepower Rotax performance machine for riders who want speed and sharper handling. The GTR 230 is built for spirited riding rather than towing. If your week is about carving across open water and having serious fun, this is the one.

🌊 Tip

If you're renting for a family week with mixed experience levels, most people are happiest on the Wake 155. If your group is confident on the water and chasing performance, the GTR 230 earns its premium. Compare both craft and specs →
