FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before your first ride.

Do I need a boating license?
New Hampshire doesn't issue a separate jet ski license, but state law requires every operator 16 or older who runs a personal watercraft or a motorboat over 25 HP to hold a Safe Boater Education Certificate — so every jet ski operator needs one. See our Get Certified section for four easy online options, or read our full NH boating license guide. You must present your certificate at delivery.
What's the minimum operator age?
The primary renter must be at least 21 with a government-issued photo ID, which we verify at delivery. Operators must be at least 16; those aged 16–17 must be accompanied by a supervising adult 21 or older at all times. Passengers of any age are welcome with a qualified operator.
Where can I ride?
We deliver to lakes across central and southern New Hampshire, from the Massachusetts line up to Squam Lake — see lakes served. We do not deliver north of Squam Lake. Note that NH law does not allow jet skis on public waters under 75 acres, and saltwater or tidal bodies such as Great Bay are not permitted.
Do you deliver to my lake?
Likely yes, if it's south of Squam Lake. Beyond the lakes listed in lakes served, we also drop off at many smaller southern NH lakes and ponds — such as Lake Sunapee, Country Pond, Great Pond, and Pawtuckaway Lake — just ask when you book and we'll confirm your specific water body.
Can I use it for tubing or wakeboarding?
The Wake 155 (SK-01) is tow-sport ready with advance written authorization. The GTR 230 (SK-02) can also tow but is better suited to performance riding. Ask us before booking if towing is a priority.
What's included in the price?
Delivery and pickup (NH), USCG-approved life jackets for all riders, pre-delivery safety walkthrough, and all registration and safety documents. Fuel is Renter's responsibility.
How does the security deposit work?
$500 refundable deposit collected at delivery, returned within 5 business days after satisfactory return — less any amounts for damage, late fees, or fuel shortfall.
What if something breaks down?
Call us immediately. We maintain both craft meticulously. In the case of a failure outside Renter's control, we'll work to make it right, including pro-rated adjustment where possible.

Local Owners. Real Water People.

Live Free Jet Ski is a small, owner-operated business based in Hampstead, New Hampshire. We started renting because we love this state's lakes — and we wanted to make that experience available to more people without the expense of ownership.

We personally maintain both craft, meet you at the launch ramp, and are reachable throughout your rental if anything comes up. This isn't a faceless fleet — it's two machines we care about, rented to people who'll treat them with respect.

All rentals are backed by a comprehensive agreement governed by NH law, and we carry insurance on both craft.
